.:Ecrufur:. Ecrufur took the well known path to her favorite hunting spot. "Time to catch some food eh?" She sat, talking to the trees, her only companions. Ecrufur gazed around at all the beautiful flowers, all having that strange natural beauty. She sighed and looked at her own pelt, which did not have that natural sheen. She was like the scraggly bark on the trees, which also had its charm. Soaking in her surroundings for a moment, she detected two mice, a squirrel and a sparrow. Mice would be easiest.
She crouched down, the sounds of the forest engulfing her as she silently moved, only the ground below her and the trees above knew of her existance. She doubted anyone knew she was gone or would ever notice. Maybe only Starclan knew, maybe. Feeling serene being surrounded by the lush forest and the soft ground, she gracefully stalked the mouse, coming upon it with a killing stroke silently and quickly.
"One down, many more to go." She purred to the green shubbery.
Setting the brown luscious mouse on the ground delecately, she covered it with dirt and repeated the process with another mouse, adding to her pile of fresh-kill. "This is almost too easy." She murmered. Gazing above, the glare of the sun hurt her clear grey eyes, causing her to squint as a lone beautiful sparrow soared by, undisterbed. "Simple creatures, why aren't we like them?" She shook her head miserably, the stories of the times before the rogues seemed...peaceful.

Mousebane was not so silent as was usual of the skilled hunter, but rather tramped around in an angered pensive state with a large rabbit in his jaws. The grey tabby was as usual frustrated by the current stae of SpringClan and had, true to his character journeyed out to take out his angst upon the prey beasts of the area. True to his warrior name the tom was always successful and it seemed the forest knew him well, warning the tiny animals underground at the feeling of his pawsteps. His current catch had not been so fortunate as to have recieved such a warning.
As he moved along he could not help but catch Ecrufur's scent on the soft wind. Heartened by the prospect of some pleasant and rogue-free interaction he hastened in her direction. Mousebane paused only once to bury the rabbit and was soon only a few tail-lengths from his pale brown clanmate.
The tom was careful to move noisily, so as to not frighten her as he approached from behind. He noticed the she-cat's eyes were trained toward the azure sky and thus, he too turned his muzzle skyward. He padded to her side and sat, following her gaze. As he did so, he curled his tail about his paws and intoned playfully, "Good morning Ecrufur, are you looking for something particular among the clouds? I might be able to help."

Ecrufur slowly turned her head towards Mousebane. Uninterested, her gaze returned to the vast sky above. "'Morning." She yawned; talking took too much energy. "Wouldn't you like to know?" Ecrufur scanned Mousebane over, still unsure if he really sided with the rogues, though it appeared not. The forest continued its sweet sounds, the sparrow long gone now. Getting right to the point, she asked, "What do you want?" She swatted at a loose rock , sending it across the small clearing.
{OCC: Sorry I haven't...posted in awhile x) I get easily distracted and my muse has gone down the toilet...^^;;}

To say the least the tom's devil-may-care attitude was shattered by the she-cat's bluntness. "Well, to be honst, I was just out for a hunt and happened on your scent..." Mousebane scuffed a tavvy paw in the dust, not removing his eyes from the clouds for fear of making eye contact with Ecrufur. "I like to get away from camp as much as I can..."

Ecrufur peered at him curiously and replied carefully, "The camp reeks of...them." She sure hoped no rogues were nearby, but her hatred of them was so great, she'd rather eat fox dung than be their ally. She gazed around, eager to get back to hunting, but she might as well as make some idle conversation with Mousebane, it wouldn't kill her...hopefully. She licked her forepaw, which had an itching sensation that just couldn't be ignored, somewhat cleaning her neglected fur in that one spot.

Again Mousebane found himself shuffling his paws, unnerved that the she-cat could be so casual with him, his vanity was not used to it. His whiskers twitched and he gave an awkward bob of agreement, "Yes... Yes, it does and I can hardly stand to walk among them... That's why I try to hunt and enjoy the open forest as much as I can... I wish I remembered better the time when they did not rule this forest..."

"They never did rule the forest. Never will. Don't let them fool you." She spat. Ecrufurs' whiskers twitched in annoyance. Her ears detected a small wood mouse to the left, and went to pursue it. Leaving Mousebane, she steathily stalked towards the mouse, killing it swiftly. The mouse hanging limp in her mouth, she returned slowly, enjoying the small patches of sunlight. Ecrufur quickly buried the fresh-kill, resuming her spot in the clearing with Mousebane, yawning.

Mousebane found himself increasingly losing hold of his confidence, thus he simply watched with mute wonder as the she-cat trotted off and returned, differing only in appearance by the mouse in her jaws. After a moment of aimless staring and much opening and closing of his mouth did he decide to reply to her stirring declaration, "Then you believe we will drive them out... Start some sort of rebellion. I would ventue to guess there are very few cats willing to stir up such a controversy and very few more willing to risk their lives for such..."

She watched him, unsure if he was acting or not. She guessed rogues were good at trickery. Itching her head with her foot, she asked, "Do you side with the rogues?" Ecrufur knew the answer would be no, even if he was a rogue, but his reaction to the question might help her guess. Her eyes glanced over him once again, her memories of him in camp returning. She remembered now, he hung around them giggling she-cats, flirting. Ecrufur snorted at the memory.

Though taken aback by the bluntness and connotation of the inquiry Mousebane's eyes surged with obvious hatred for the rogue regime. "No, no I do not..." His face was set resolutely, "And I would die before I did. You have nothing to fear from me Ecrufur..."

She rolled her eyes, "That's what they all say." The obvious hate shown in his eyes was good enough for her. "But I guess you ain't no rogue." Her paws itched with a growing sensation to hunt. She had talked enough for the day, enough for two days almost. With a smirk, Ecrufur padded off into the dense forest territory for more prey. Maybe if she overfed the rogues, they'd get so fat they couldn't move. The thought made Ecrufur slip a small chuckle as she imagined fat rogues wobbling around camp.

Worried the she-cat was laughing at him Mousebane's whiskers twitched. "Uhm... What's so funny?" He shuffled his paws wondering at his excessive nervousness. "Er... That is if you don't mind my asking..."

Ecrufur turned her head slightly to look at Mousebane. Why did he seem...nervous around her? Was he not a warrior with more experience than her? He had seen more seasons and battles. She couldn't be the scariest thing he has seen before...if you don't consider my pelt. She smiled wryly. "I do mind." She paused, "Shouldn't you get back to hunting? What will the clan think of us when we return with no prey?" After a moments silence, and the leaves on the trees whispered softly in the wind, she added, quietly, almost whispering like the trees, "I was thinking about overfed rogues. Does that answer your question?" Ecrufur looked down at her paws, feeling somewhat exhausted, when just minutes before, she had been full of energy, ready to hunt until no more prey resided in the forest. All this talking made her tired.

Mousebane cocked his head askance and continued to look taken aback. "Um... Yes, yes it does... Thanks, I think." After a few more moments staring at his paws he gave a great sigh. "Well, uhm, I suppose I'll be going back to camp now." It was clear to him that the she-cat was exasperated, possibly with him. "Would you like to come with me or are you going to stay out a while longer?"
