Icewhisker sinked quietly into camp taking the lead from Wraithgaze. After looking around, she beckoned the tom with her tail. "Coast is clear," she mouthed to Wraithgaze. She then waited for her friend to take the lead again.
Blacknight was sitting near the camp entrance, blending in very well with the darkness. He was taking a nap. His ears twitched at the sound of movement in the entrance, but he did not move a muscle. Or so it seemed...

With silent pawsteps Wraithgaze padded toward the camp entrance, every muscle beneath his pelt tensed in anxiety. He hoped dearly that none of the rogues were guarding the camp's entrance, though he knew full well this was as unlikely as a snow storm in SummerClan territory. With a few cautious sniffs he moved slowly forward, then abruptly stopped. Blacknight's scent hit the roof of his mouth and his stomach dropped. He motioned for Icewhisker to stay still and waited...

Seeing Wraithgaze's command, Icewhisker froze. At first she did not know why they had stopped, but then she knew. The horrible stench of Blacknight flew into her mouth. Right then, she wanted to cough the scent out of her throat, but she continued to stay completely frozen.
Blacknight still had his eyes closed, as he was hiding. He then grunted twice. It was not very loud but Wraithgaze and Icewhisker could hear the grunts. Suddenly, his eyes flashed open. Since he just woke up, his vision was all clouded. Plus his hearing was not working a little. "What happened?" Blacknight pondered to himself.

Wraithgaze moved slowly and near silently to Icewhisker's side, mouthing as he did so, 'What do we do.' Having slid to the she-cat's shoulder he froze. His ears moved independently, carefully listening to Blacknight's movements, this was certainly not good, they were not entering camp unnoticed...

Seeing that Blacknight just woke up, Icewhisker knew that his eyesight was blured for a few moments. Quickly, she responded, "Run" She whispered the short word into Wraithgaze's ear, and started to half run, half walk out of Blacknight's sight range. Before she was out of range she tapped the tom on the shoulder to follow.
Blacknight was still grumbling to himself about a number of things. He snorted once. Then he sneezed and shook his head. Luckily for Icewhisker and Wraithgaze, he did not notice the two cats coming into the camp. After blinking about ten times, he glanced around to see if any cat was coming in or out.

Though Wraithgaze was full aware that such a tactic would not save them for long he submitted to Icewhisker's lead and trotted as quietly as was possible from Blacknight's range of perception. When he felt they were a fair distance off he turned with anious solemnity to Icewhisker and intoned, "We can't keep this up all night, how are we to get past him?"

Icewhisker smiled her mischievous smile. She then meowed, "Has he been in the warriors den before you left and after I left?" She then cocked her head slightly. "If he hasn't, we could say that we have been sleeping, because we got up very early to hunt. That might work since he would do anything to have more hunting patrols." Sitting down, she tried to think of more ideas.
Blacknight shook himself awake. Oh no! he thought. I need to report to Luststar. I promised that I would! He then quickly collected himself and sped away from the entrance. "At least there is another cat guarding at the entrance," he meowed out loud. Speeding away he look around the camp for any signs of his rogue leader. He never looked back at the entrance or the places around it. Or so it seemed...

Wraithgaze looked doubtful, "We'll see what happens I suppose... For now let's just focus on getting back inside." He took a few careful steps forward and scented the air. "The coast seems clear enough... Follow me."

"Okay," Icewhisker meowed. Plese StarClan, she thought. Don't let us get caught! She then followed Wraithgaze as quietly as possible.

Wraithgaze felt himself grow more tense with every pawstep. Each movement seemed to bring them closer to some unknown danger. It was not for himself that he feared but rather what Blacknight might do to Icewhisker. As they drew ever closer to the camp entrance the shadowed tom dared hope they might yet make it without confrontation, but nothing was sure...

Icewhisker's body tensed even more. Over Wraithgaze's shoulder she could see the camp entrance. We might make it! she thought hopefully. Just then the bushes rustled behind her. Her heart then beat faster. Then she scented mouse. She calmed down. Nothing to worry about. At least for now...

Cresting a small hillock Wraithgaze felt his beathing quicken. They were so close and yet there was a niggling sense of fear that caused his ears to flatten against his skull. Something was not right and he could feel it. It was only a matter of time before he found out exactly what was amiss and he shuddered to think just what it might be. In a few eternal seconds they stood no more than two tail lengths from the entrance. With a heavy intake of breath Wraithgaze took a further step forward and tryed to smile reassuringly at Icewhisker.

Icewhisker saw her friend's weak smile. "It's okay," she whispered in his ear. "You do not have to pretend. I know you are scared and I am too." Something didn't seem right. It was too easy, someone must have been watching them. Icewhisker's long, silky fur stood on end. The wind wasn't the only thing she didn't feel good about.
